We had a wonderful holiday in London while learning about its history and visiting the most important sights.
We planned a cultural trip to London during our first mid-term break. We flew to London on 28th November 2015, Saturday morning for our six-night-trip. After checking in the hotel, we set off for our daily trip. Our first stop was to London Eye where we could see all London from the top. We all enjoyed being in the air while watching around. Next morning we headed for Madame Tussaud’s. We saw a lot of famous people’s wax statues and took pictures. After having a late lunch we were ready to go to Oxford Street for some shopping. We also visited The Tower of London where the royal jewellery is shown. Next day we got on a coach and went to Oxford City. We had a tour of the city on foot. We saw churches, the hotel which had been transformed from prison to a hotel, The Covered Market and the parts of the Oxford University. We were given necessary information about the university, also about the famous story Alice in Wonderland. We learned that the film Alice in Wonderland and some parts of Harry Potter were filmed in Oxford. Next day we took a cruise tour on the River Thames. While the guide was telling us all about The River Thames, it was very nice taking a part, and we had chance to take lots of photos. Then we visited the London Dungeon. It was a really nice time, next we went to horror chambers of the London Dungeon’s to see and learn about the London’s history. At the London Dungeon the history of London is shown by actors and really well-prepared props, the Plague caused by mice, big London fire, tortures and many other things. On Wednesday we got on the coach and headed for Warner Bros Studios where they have been filming Harry Potter, all the props, materials and whatever needed in the film. We also had lunch there. On our last day we had a long walk in Hyde Park. Feeding squirrels and pigeons was amazing. After Hyde Park we walked towards to the Buckingham Palace. On the way to the palace we were able to see the Queen’s horses with the soldiers on them. Having the chance to see the ceremony of the guard change at the palace was wonderful. After the ceremony we visited the Queen Gallery and had some shopping then we went to Camden Town and spent our afternoon walking around and some shopping. In the evening we headed to see ‘The Lion King’ musical which was really breathtaking, with the props, music, cast and the play itself. We were very tired when we arrived at the hotel, so we immediately fell asleep.
It was a wonderful holiday, we had a lot of fun together.
