Sakıp Sabancı Anatolian High School MUN Conference

The English MUN team of Saint Michel French High School attended its second MUN conference in this education year which was organized by Sakıp Sabancı Anatolian High School at Bogazici University between May 13 and 15. We participated with 13 students studying in the 9th, 10th and 11th grades who were eager for another MUN, after the great experience and fun that they had at GSLMUN.

Followed by weeks of preparations, the students represented their countries in the best way possible in their committees as well as enjoying the incredible campus and atmosphere of the Bogazici University. At the end of three hectic days, during which the delegates debated, gave speeches and finally wrote resolutions about their agendas, all of our students earned the right to receive their participation certificates. Furthermore, we were honoured by our 9th grade student Eda S., 11th grade students Sedef S., Kerem A. who won “The Outstanding Delegate” award along with 10th grade students Alik A. and Doğa Megan W. who won “Honorable Mention”.

It is our pleasure to share the committees which our students were members of and their agendas. Ali Can Y., Defne E., Doğa Megan W., Alara T., İlgi B. were members of the Futuristic UNEP (The United Nations Environment Programme) in which the delegates tried to save South America after a disastrous explosion of a nuclear power plant causing an unstoppable forest fire in the Amazon basin.  Eylül P., Yaprak G., Kerem A. were members of Historical UNODC (The United Nations Office on Drugs and Crime) the agenda of which was to collapse the entire drug traffic in the world mainly orchestrated by Pablo Escobar. Sedef S., Eda S., Duru T, Nehir Z. Y., Yiğit Ü. were members of the European Council in which the current situation of refugees in Europe was discussed. Alik A. was a member of the JCC (Joint Crisis Committee) as Agent 004 of the FBI fighting against the five mafia families in the USA who emerged during the alcohol prohibition.

Throughout these three adventurous days, the students added on their experience, gained more self-confidence, met new friends and made the most of the South Campus in a magnificent location. We thank each and every student for their efforts and contributions.
